El Departament d’Estadística i Investigació Operativa participa en projectes de recerca principalment centrats en estadística computacional, anàlisi de la supervivència, interfases intel·ligents entre usuaris i aplicacions estadístiques, mètodes estadístics per al control i la millora de la qualitat, optimització i simulació de fluxos en xarxes, programació sencera i optimització combinatòria, aplicacions de la simulació en el transport i la logística.
