dc.description.abstract
In this study, the hole as a leitmotif was used to present a set of artistic proposals that are generated from the commitment and the sociopolitical involvement. My interest is to emphasize the search for meaning through the experience and contemporary visual representation, based on the relation between primarily urban facts and situations at a local or global level. After some preliminary approaches to the hole concept, the contents are structured in three parts: «1. Lots and vacant lots», referring to urban spaces that are in between times, coming momentarily out of the productive system, and that are usually marginal, abandoned, and on the edges; «2. Traces of violence», mainly referring to the contemporary visual representation of violent events, especially those related to war conflicts; «3. Body and hole», where the intention is to relate body with the hole, in particular the body under reclusion and, on the other hand, the physical labor of the act of digging. This study concludes with an epilogue, seeking a dialogue and redefinition between my own artistic work, and the artists and concepts presented in the three previous sections.
