Significado de Maternidad y proceso de convertirse en madre en un grupo de mujeres trabajadoras

Abstract

Objetivo: Explorar el significado de maternidad que han construido las mujeres trabajadoras del departamento del Quindío y el cómo se adaptan ante la situación de ser madres y trabajar. Método: Estudio cualitativo fenomenológico interpretativo realizado con 16 mujeres, trabajadoras y madres, con niveles educativos y empleos diversos. El muestreo fue de tipo opinático. Los datos se recopilaron mediante una entrevista semiestructurada. Se realizó un análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: Se identificaron 1932 códigos. Se agruparon aquellos que compartían un mismo significado en nueve categorías. En una segunda fase, se sintetizaron y agruparon las categorías y se crearon tres temas emergentes. Conclusiones: El proceso de convertirse en madre es complejo y dinámico en el que se intercalan sentimientos positivos y negativos especialmente durante el embarazo, la primera infancia del hijo y la incorporación al mundo laboral. Convertirse en madre es un proceso que requiere resiliencia, al ser dinámico y cambiante.

Objective: To explore the meaning of motherhood that a group of working women have built and how they adapt to the situation of being mothers and working. Method: Interpretive phenomenological qualitative study carried out with 16 women. Opinion type sampling and snowball technique until saturation is achieved, thematic content analysis. Results: 1932 codes. Nine categories and three emerging themes: 1) being a mother: realities and significance in personal life; 2) woman, mother and worker: a reality in today's world; and 3) legislation: perceptions and realities of the working mother. Conclusions: The process of becoming a mother is complex and dynamic, positive and negative feelings are interspersed. It continues with a vision of traditional maternity where the mother perceives a greater responsibility in parenting. Becoming a mother is a process that requires resilience, being dynamic and changing, it requires support.
