La industrialització al món rural català: desplegament capitalista, paisatge i casa obrera a la mineria bergadana

Abstract

[cat] L'àrea prepirinenca de l’Alt Berguedà (Barcelona) visqué a partir de finals del segle XIX un procés d’industrialització progressiva. Amb aquest procés, el territori es convertí en part de la perifèria energètica i productiva de l’entorn industrial de Barcelona, provocant ràpides i profundes transformacions socials, culturals i econòmiques. La zona es reordenà entorn a la mineria del carbó i els fluxos de població migrants s’allotjaren en antics i nous nuclis d’habitatges. La present tesi doctoral pretén analitzar des d’una perspectiva històrico-arqueològica les diverses cases emprades per les persones que treballaven a la mineria així com el seu entorn i paisatge entre l’inici de l’explotació industrial a finals del s. XIX i fins al seu abandó a l’últim terç del s. XX. L’estudi de la materialitat, en diàleg amb les fonts documentals i les fonts orals es proposa com a ampliació transdisciplinària dels límits tradicionals d’anàlisi, per tal de caracteritzar la diversitat d’espais i estructures domèstiques habitades per la població treballadora: colònies industrials, masos, cases de poble i nuclis de barraques, entre d’altres, coexistiren en el mateix territori en un context de ràpida integració d’aquesta zona rural al capitalisme industrial. L’èmfasi en la casa ens permet abordar la transformació de l’habitatge com a part de l’ampli procés d’industrialització del món rural incorporant al relat històric les experiències de les poblacions silenciades i marginalitzades per tal d’entendre la construcció identitats i cosmovisions associades a les transformacions de les formes de vida, el desmembrament de la societat pagesa, la reestructuració de l’ordenament de gènere i la construcció de l’habitus obrer.

[eng] From the late 19th century onwards the pre-Pyrenean area of the Alt Berguedà (Barcelona) underwent a gradual process of industrialization. As a consequence of this process, the region became part of the energy-producing periphery of the industrial hub of Barcelona, causing rapid and far-reaching social, cultural and economic transformations. The area was reorganized around coal mining and migrant population flows were accommodated in old and new residential areas. This doctoral thesis aims to analyse the different dwellings used by people who worked in the mining sector as well as their environment and the landscape from the beginning of industrial exploitation at the end of the 19th century until its abandonment in the last third of the 20th century. The study of materiality, in dialogue with documentary and oral sources, is proposed as a transdisciplinary extension of the traditional limits of analysis, in order to characterize the diversity of spaces and domestic structures inhabited by the working population: industrial colonies, farmhouses, village houses and shantytowns, among others, coexisted within the same area in a context in which this rural area was swiftly integrated into industrial capitalism. The emphasis on the dwelling place enables us to consider the transformation of housing as part of the broad process of industrializing the rural world by incorporating the experiences of silenced and marginalized sectors of the population into the historical narrative in order to understand the construction of identities and worldviews associated with transformations in the ways of life, the dismemberment of rural society, the restructuring of the gender order and the construction of the working-class habitus.
