Arte Comunitario,Teatro del Oprimido y Empoderamiento: hacia una Acción Comunitaria Emancipadora en Barcelona

[spa] En nuestras sociedades persisten las situaciones de opresión y exclusión social de personas y colectivos por diversas razones. Frente a estas realidades, es pertinente considerar las posibles respuestas que pueden ofrecer la acción comunitaria y la psicología comunitaria para abordar estos malestares. El objetivo de la presente investigación es explorar y analizar el potencial empoderador de las prácticas artísticas comunitarias, con un enfoque específico en el teatro del oprimido, como metodología de acción comunitaria empoderadora para abordar situaciones de opresión social. La acción comunitaria se ha convertido en una de las formas más relevantes de praxis comunitaria en la ciudad de Barcelona durante las últimas décadas. La investigación se ha desarrollado en tres etapas a lo largo de un proceso de 7 años, durante el cual se publicaron dos estudios que se incluyen en esta tesis. En la primera etapa, se realizó un mapeo y análisis de las prácticas artísticas comunitarias en Barcelona, para luego seleccionar aquellas de interés y configurar la muestra. Se entrevistó a 20 informantes clave que facilitan y analizan este tipo de prácticas. En la segunda etapa, se enfocó en el teatro del oprimido para entender y explicar sus límites y potencialidades como catalizador de procesos de empoderamiento psicológico en personas que sufren opresiones sociales en el contexto de Barcelona. Se entrevistó a 15 personas que habían participado en un proceso de creación colectivo de una obra de teatro foro. En la última etapa, se integraron y discutieron los resultados obtenidos para considerar los aportes que estas prácticas ofrecen a la praxis en la psicología comunitaria y a la acción comunitaria empoderadora y emancipadora en Barcelona. Las 35 entrevistas realizadas fueron transcritas y analizadas temáticamente con el soporte del software Atlas.ti. La discusión de los resultados y el diálogo con investigaciones y trabajos similares permiten concluir que algunas prácticas de arte comunitario, entre ellas el teatro del oprimido, pueden considerarse estructuras mediadoras de procesos y resultados de empoderamiento. El arte comunitario, en general, y el teatro del oprimido, en particular, pueden ser útiles para acompañar el empoderamiento de colectivos que atraviesan situaciones de opresión y exclusión social. Estas prácticas artísticas tienen el potencial de resignificar el concepto de empoderamiento, resultando de interés para una psicología social y comunitaria transformadora. Además, pueden ser consideradas una modalidad de intervención psicosocial para la psicología y mejorar la dimensión empoderadora de la acción comunitaria en Barcelona. Por último, se sugiere profundizar en el análisis del potencial impacto de estas prácticas en la creación de capital social y la promoción del empoderamiento grupal y comunitario, considerando las características y límites de la presente investigación.

[eng] There are many signs that show that in our societies we continue to live with situations of oppression and social exclusion of individuals and groups. Faced with these indicators of social inequality, it is worth asking what responses can be given from the field of community action and community psychology to address these social problems. The object of this research is community artistic practices and the theater of the oppressed. The focus of analysis has been its empowering dimension with the main objective of exploring and analyzing its potential as an empowerment-based community action to address situations of social oppression suffered by these social groups. Community action is one of the most relevant forms that community praxis has taken in the city during the last decades. The research has been organized in three stages during a 7-year process in which two papers have been published. The first stage analyzed the empowering potential of community arts in Barcelona. To this end, a mapping and analysis of artistic practices was carried out and then those of interest were selected to configure the sample. 20 key informants were interviewed, people who facilitate and analyze this type of practices (Fernández-Carrasco et al., 2015). In the second stage, the analysis was narrowed and densified by selecting one of the modalities of community art, the theater of the oppressed, trying this time to understand and explain its limits and potential to specifically catalyze processes of psychological empowerment in people who suffer social oppressions in the context of Barcelona. For this purpose, 15 people were interviewed who had participated from start to finish in a process of collective creation of a forum theater play (Fernández- Carrasco et al., 2019). In the last stage, the results were integrated and discussed to answer how community arts can enhance community praxis within community psychology and, in turn, add value to empowering and emancipatory community action in Barcelona. The 35 interviews were transcribed and thematically analyzed with the support of Atlas.ti software. The discussion of the results and the dialogue with similar research and work leads to the conclusion that some community art practices, including the theater of the oppressed, can be considered mediating structures for empowering processes and outcomes. The conclusions indicate that community art and the theater of the oppressed can be useful to accompany the empowerment of collectives in situations of oppression and social exclusion. These artistic practices have the potential to re-signify the concept of empowerment; to be of interest for a transformative social and community psychology; to signify themselves as a modality of psychosocial intervention for psychology; and to improve the empowering dimension of community action in Barcelona. Finally, considering the specificities and limits of the present research, we suggest further analysis of the potential impact of these practices in the creation of social capital and to foster group and community empowerment.
