Codina Le Boudal, Alba (Date of defense: 2024-07-16)
The rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure has gained importance in recent decades. Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) are effective for strengthening Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures due to their mechanical ...
Ruiz Cózar, Ivan (Date of defense: 2024-06-14)
In recent decades, several meso-scale computational models have been developed for predicting the failure evolution and strength of composite materials. Nevertheless, the complex failure mechanisms of composites pose a ...
González Ruiz, Jose Antonio (Date of defense: 2024-05-27)
Historically, the manufacture of advanced composite parts has been characterised by low-volume production, but is increasingly moving towards mass production. This new scenario, where competitiveness is on the rise, requires ...
Vallmajó Martín, Oriol (Date of defense: 2024-04-12)
Composite structures play a crucial role in lightweight applications due to their exceptional mechanical performance and low density. However, their anisotropic behavior and susceptibility to uncertainties, such as ...
Meulman, Edwin (Date of defense: 2023-10-06)
Adhesive bonds could replace more traditional mechanical joints, making structures lighter and smoother. Stresses are distributed over a larger area, and dissimilar materials can be bonded, accommodating differences in ...
Polonio Alcalá, Emma (Date of defense: 2023-05-17)
Although there are therapies for triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) and epidermal growth factor-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (EGFRm NSCLC), these two subtypes of cancer are very aggressive, and most patients develop ...
Arbeláez Toro, Juan José (Date of defense: 2023-04-26)
In recent years, additive manufacturing technologies (3D printing) have been introduced in different fields, such as locomotion and bioengineering, among others. Extrusion by Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) or Fused ...
Medina Escobar, Sergio Alonso (Date of defense: 2022-11-25)
The rate-dependent behaviour of the interlaminar fracture toughness of fibre reinforced composites has been a matter of research during the last decades. However, the results obtained so far are not conclusive and further ...
Jahani, Younes (Date of defense: 2022-11-11)
There is a general trend towards rehabilitation and strengthening of existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to the costs associated with the replacement of the structural members and the environmental impact ...
Ximinis Tarrés, Joan (Date of defense: 2022-09-07)
First part of this research is focused in validating the Exhaust Gas Heater (EGH) viability in reducing NOx emissions without negative effects in a standard exhaust gas circuit. Experimentation was held using a HDV Euro ...
Rabionet Diaz, Marc (Date of defense: 2021-11-08)
Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 15-20% of the breast cancers and displays an aggressive profile, poor prognosis, high relapse risk and does not have a targeted therapy. In the last years, breast cancer ...
Simon Madrenas, Enric (Date of defense: 2021-11-17)
Elastoplastic energy dissipators are used in earthquake-resistant design in order to dissipate a substantial part of the seismic energy acting on a building. They are elements that are not part of the load-bearing structure ...
Gómez Colom, Javier (Date of defense: 2022-01-14)
The rehabilitation of civil structures has been gaining importance during the last decades. Owing to their mechanical, corrosion resistance and lightweight properties, Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) present an ...
