Representació mediàtica i interpretació adolescent de la sexualitat i la relació amorosa en la ficció seriada

Abstract

L’objectiu de la tesi és analitzar la representació de la sexualitat i la relació amorosa que fan les sèries i la interpretació que els adolescents fan d’aquestes representacions. Per assolir els objectius, s’han combinat diverses metodologies quantitatives i qualitatives: enquesta, anàlisi semiòtica del contingut de les sèries i anàlisi de contingut qualitativa dels fòrums online. Els resultats que es desprenen de l’anàlisi són reveladors: a) els adolescents són poc selectius en la ficció seriada que consumeixen; b) les trames sobre relacions amoroses i sexuals són les que més atrauen als adolescents; c) moltes de les sèries de ficció presenten unes relacions amoroses i sexuals i uns personatges estereotipats. La concepció i mites de l’amor romàntic són molt presents. Només hi ha alguna excepció on es presenten dilemes oberts i trencadors; d) quan les sèries presenten als adolescents relacions amoroses estereotipades, aquests les accepten sense crear debat. Per contra, quan les sèries s’arrisquen i presenten dilemes oberts i trencadors, els adolescents debaten en el fòrum sobre aquestes, les seves pròpies concepcions entren en dubte; e) els fòrums de fans esdevenen una eina útil per a l’aprenentatge sobre les relacions amoroses i sexuals entre iguals.

The objective of this thesis is to analyse the portrayal of sexuality and amorous relationships in series and how teenagers interpret these portrayals. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies were employed to achieve the objectives: questionnaire, semiotic analysis of the series’ content and qualitative analysis of the online forums’ content. The results obtained from the analyses are revealing: a) teenagers are not selective in the series they consume; b) storylines about amorous and sexual relationships are what most attract teenagers; c) many of the series present stereotypical amorous and sexual relationships and characters. There is a notable presence of the conception and myths of romantic love. There is only one exception where open and ground-breaking dilemmas are presented; d) when the series present stereotypical amorous relationships, teenagers accept them without instigating discussion. However, when the series take risks and present open and ground-breaking dilemmas, teenagers discuss them in the forums and their own conceptions are questioned; e) fans’ forums become a useful tool for inter-peer learning about amorous and sexual relationships.
