J. S. Jassans, epílogo del linaje mediterráneo

Abstract

La investigación tiene como objeto la obra del escultor Josep Salvadó Jassans (1938-2013). Natural del pueblo de Alforja (Baix Camp) los inicios del escultor tuvieron lugar en Reus de la mano de Modest Gené. No obstante su auténtico maestro y mentor fue el escultor Joan Rebull a quien conoció al trasladarse a Barcelona para ingresar en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Jorge. Años más tarde cuando la escuela se integró dentro de la Universitat de Barcelona, Jassans ingresó como profesor y fue progresando en el mundo académico hasta convertirse en catedrático. En lo que respecta a su labor artística, Jassans desarrolló una obra muy definida que nos permitirá trazar un recorrido por la escultura figurativa catalana, tomando como partida la obra de Aristides Maillol veremos como Clarà, Casanovas, Gargallo, Marés o el propio Rebull trabajaran la idea de un clasicismo renovado del cual Jassans será el último exponente destacado.

The research aims at the work of the sculptor Josep Salvadó Jassans (1938-2013). Natural of the town of Alforja (Baix Camp) the beginnings of the sculptor took place in Reus of the hand of Modest Gene. Nevertheless his real master and mentor was the sculptor Joan Rebull whom he met when he moved to Barcelona to enter the School of Fine Arts of San Jorge. Years later when the school was integrated within the Universitat of Barcelona, Jassans entered like professor and was progressing in the academic world until becoming professor. Regarding his artistic work, Jassans developed a very definite work that will allow us to trace a tour of Catalan figurative sculpture, taking as a starting point the work of Aristides Maillol we will see how Clarà, Casanovas, Gargallo, Marés or Rebull will work the Idea of a renewed classicism of which Jassans will be the last outstanding exponent.
