Las estrategias redaccionales y discursivas de las crónicas de Santiago Segurola en El País (1986-2006) y Marca (2007-2016)

Abstract

El deporte es uno de los temas que más espacio tienen en los medios de comunicación y se ha convertido en uno de los grandes campos de estudio para la especialización de futuros periodistas. Sin embargo, existen todavía pocos estudios académicos en España que examinen las obras de grandes periodistas deportivos. En la presente tesis doctoral se analiza la obra periodística de Santiago Segurola en el diario generalista El País (2.788 textos) y en el diario especializado Marca (1.429 textos), bajo los enfoques teóricos y humanísticos de la Periodística y la Hermenéutica, y mediante el método de la entrevista en profundidad al autor. En el marco teórico se identifican y abordan las líneas de investigación más fecundas del periodismo deportivo: las nuevas tecnologías, la ética, los aspectos de género, la construcción de identidades y la redacción periodística. Se estudia la figura de Santiago Segurola como arquitecto de la sección de deportes de El País que creó un estilo propio a partir de las siguientes características: desburocratización, fusión de las redacciones de Madrid y Barcelona, digitalización y deportes globales, detectar el talento periodístico y regenerar la redacción, dar relevacia e independencia al motor y gran cobertura a todos los eventos deportivos, eliminar previas preconcebidas y rumorología de fichajes, dar importancia a los breves y apostar por periodistas con vocación para contar historias. En esta investigación cualitativa se ha seleccionado un subcorpus de 45 crónicas deportivas ad hoc y se hallan evidencias de una influencia marcada del Nuevo Periodismo en las piezas de Santiago Segurola, que desarrolla multitud de técnicas estilísticas como el uso de diálogos, metáforas, referencias culturales o expresiones populares, y técnicas estructurales como las crónicas circulares por tesis o la organización por ideas. Además, Santiago Segurola introduce en el periodismo deportivo moderno español el género de la anticrónica y la ensayización de la crónica y su estilo innovador ha influenciado en otros periodistas deportivos del panorama nacional.

Sport is one of the topics that occupy more space in the media and has become one of the major fields of study for the specialization of future journalists. However, there are still few academic studies in Spain that examine the works of great sports journalists. In the present doctoral thesis, Santiago Segurola’s journalistic work is analyzed in the generalist newspaper El País (2.788 texts) and in the specialized newspaper Marca (1.429 texts), under the theoretical and humanistic approaches of Journalism and Hermeneutics, and through the in-depth interview method of the author. The most fruitful lines of research in sports journalism in the theoretical framework are identified and addressed as: the new technologies, the ethics, the gender aspects, the construction of identities and the journalistic writing. The figure of Santiago Segurola is studied as an architect of the sports section of El País that created his own style as of the following characteristics: removal of red tape, merging of Madrid and Barcelona newsrooms, digitalization and global sports, detecting the journalistic talents and enhancing the wordings, giving moment and independence to the motor and large coverage of all sporting events, eliminating the preconceived opinions and the rumours of transfers, giving importance to the briefs and betting by journalists with vocation for sharing the stories. In this qualitative research, a sub-corpus of 45 sports diaries has been selected and there is evidence of a marked influence of the New Journalism in the works of Santiago Segurola, which develops a multitude of stylistic techniques such as the use of dialogues, metaphors, cultural references or popular expressions, and structural techniques such as circular chronicles by thesis or the organization of ideas. In addition, Santiago Segurola introduces into Spanish modern sports journalism the gender of anti-chronicle and the essay of the chronicle and its innovative style has influenced other sports journalists on the national scene.
