Les traduccions liederístiques de Joaquim Pena: inventari i anàlisi de la repercussió cultural i musical

Abstract

La historiografia sobre la figura de Joaquim Pena s’ha esmerçat en situar la seva tasca traductològica i el seu ideari dins dels paràmetres del Modernisme i el wagnerisme i ha deixat fora del focus la tasca ingent de traducció realitzada en l’àmbit de la cançó de concert i del repertori de recital. L’examen de la seva activitat professional i l’inventariat exhaustiu d’aquestes traduccions –pertanyents al fons Joaquim Pena de la Biblioteca de Catalunya, la biblioteca del Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona i el Centre de Documentació de l’Orfeó Català– i l’anàlisi del seu impacte cultural i musical a través de les principals associacions musicals barcelonines, ens ha proporcionat una visió més ajustada del global del corpus traductològic de l’autor i, al mateix temps, ens ha permès identificar-lo com un dels principals impulsors i ideòlegs del gènere del Lied a Catalunya i un pioner del Noucentime musical.

Normally, the historiography on Joaquim Pena situates his ideology and translation work within the parameters of Modernism and Wagnerism, neglecting to focus on the enormous task of translation carried out in the field of concert song and recital repertoire. These extensive translations are found in the Joaquim Pena collection of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, the library of the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona, and the Centre de Documentació de l’Orfeó Català. Examination of the exhaustive inventory of said translations, study of Pena’s professional activity, and the analysis of their cultural and musical impact through the main musical associations in Barcelona, has provided a more accurate view of the author's overall corpus of translations, thus allowing Pena to be identified as one of the main promoters and ideologues of the Lied genre in Catalonia and a pioneer of the musical Noucentisme.
