Políticas elementales: Vida cotidiana y vanguardia cinematográfica en el Nueva York de los años 60 y 70

Abstract

A partir de las obras cinematográficas surgidas alrededor del colectivo The Film-makers’ Cooperative se analizarán las implicaciones estéticas y políticas alrededor de la representación artística de la vida cotidiana, factor clave en la vanguardia de los años sesenta y setenta. Se tendrá en cuenta la relación de estas obras con una tradición cultural estadounidense, el transcendentalismo, que adapta a una nueva nación las influencias del Romanticismo inglés, y con las corrientes de pensamiento que se desarrollaban en Europa en aquellos mismos años.

From the study of the films distributed by The Film-makers’ Cooperative, we try to analyse the aesthetic and political significance of the portrayal of everyday life, a keystone of the avantgarde in the sixties. The connection with the new school of thought developing in Europe in the times of their production will be examined, as the relation with the North American cultural tradition influenced by English Romanticism, adapted to the ideas and thoughts of a newborn nation.
