El paisaje en la narrativa de Armando Palacio Valdés desde Riverita (1886) a Sinfonía pastoral (1931).

Abstract

La tesis analiza el paisaje literario en seis novelas representativas de Armando Palacio Valdés (1853-1938), y las sitúa en la historia de la Literatura Española: Realismo, Modernismo y precedentes del 98, con la alusión a autores contemporáneos e influencias exhibidas. Presenta, fundamentalmente, los diferentes paisajes españoles (andaluz, asturiano, madrileño y valenciano) demostrando el conocimiento y la sensibilidad del escritor asturiano ante ellos. Expone, asimismo el protagonismo del paisaje en su obra narrativa y cómo consciente o inconscientemente impacta en la vida de sus personajes, ensamblando lo físico y psíquico, lo material y espiritual… Novela de espacio en la que se muestra cómo interactúa este con la psicología de sus protagonistas. Resulta también importante el análisis descriptivo de la lengua literaria de la narrativa de Palacio Valdés en sus variantes y características particulares: su idiolecto. Reivindicamos, en definitiva, la figura y obra de un escritor en su excepcionalidad artístico-literaria.

The thesis analyzes the literary landscape in six representative novels by Armando Palacio Valdés (1853-1938), placing them in the history of Spanish Literature: Realism, Modernism and precedents of 98, with the allusion to contemporary authors and exhibited influences. It mainly presents the different Spanish landscapes (Andalusian, Asturian, Madrid and Valencian), demonstrating the knowledge and sensitivity of the Asturian writer to them. It also exposes the importance of the landscape in its narrative work and how it consciously or unconsciously impacts on the lives of its characters, assembling the physical and psychic, the material and the spiritual ... Space novel in which it is shown how it interacts with psychology of its protagonists. The descriptive analysis of the literary language of Palacio Valdés' narrative in its variants and particular characteristics (its idiolect) is also important. We vindicate, in short, the figure and work of a writer in his artistic-literary exceptionality.
